In the winter, Large Private Jets, like the Boeing 737, can not stay parked, and must come in, drop off and then leave, because of limited space. The airport has two ARFF trucks, located in the operations garage, are run by the West Routt Fire Department.
Most small Private Aircraft use the Steamboat Spring Airport, but it has only a 4,452ft runway. Frontier Airlines operated by Lynx Aviation has decided to pull out of the 2009-2010 winter season.
Snow removal operations are only conducted between 6:00 a.m. Gates and aircraft parking slots can be given on the airport operation channel.
Mesa Airlines has flown to and from the airport from Denver in the past, but the airport wanted all jet service, operated by SkyWest, and wanted turbo-prop, Dash 8 service to end. It will cost close to $18 million to complete.
It has 5 gates that can hold the Boeing 757, Boeing 737, Dash 8-400, Airbus a319 and the CRJ 200 and 700 that visit the airport. There are always at least 2 police officers at the TSA checkpoint, when the terminal is open.
All aircraft departing runway 28 must make a right or left turn to avoid the populated areas of Hayden. The ARFF trucks will only be staffed by firefighters when a scheduled flight is arriving or departing with more than 10passengers.
Police department and the TSA is in charge of airport security. Jet A fuel is provided by the FBO, Galaxy Aviation.
Hayden, CO. It supports the only scheduled passenger services to Northwest Colorado and is also used for general aviation, particularly larger private aircraft unable to operate at Steamboat Springs Airport (Bob Adams Field). The airport is owned and operated by Routt County. The Airport recently finished Phase II of construction that expanded the Terminal, Apron and Parking lots.

Like other Colorado Airports, there are no jetbridges, just airstairs. Transportation can be provided by local taxi companies and the public bus. There is no Air Traffic Control Tower at the airport.

Heavy Snow and low ceilings during winter cause some aircraft to divert to other regional airports, and occasionally Denver International Airport. All seasonal flights begin in December and end in April. All aircraft receive approach control services from Denver Center.

American Airlines has downgraded its service to Chicago O Hare from a Boeing 757 to a Boeing 737 American Airlines flies the Boeing 757 to Dallas and the Boeing 737 to Chicago. Continental Airlines flies the Boeing 737. Delta Airlines flies the Boeing 737 and the Boeing 757. Northwest Airlines operates the Airbus A319. SkyWest operates the CRJ-200 to Salt Lake City and the CRJ-200 and CRJ-700 to Denver.
