Dr. F. L. Bartels(1949-1961)--First African layman to be a substantive head of the School. He is remembered for his rapid reforms to lift the image of the School.

Rev. Alec A. Sneath(1911-1919, 1945-1948)--.He has the first to be installed by students as Nana Ababio the 1st (You went and came back). As a result of his efficiency in administration, he was appointed a second term of office. Unfortunately a year before he died, his era met a political turmoil in the Gold Coast when Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first prime minister and president of Ghana, returned from U.K. in 1947. The political undercurrents resulted in the first major demonstration by students. He died in 1948.
