On the 3rd April,
1876 the Methodist Synod established Mfantsipim in Cape Coast near the Castle. Between 1876 and
1905 the name of the school metamorphosed: from Wesley High School, Wesleyan
Collegiate, Richmond School to Mfantsipim.
In 1930 the school was moved
from its old site near the near the Castle (near the Victoria Park) to the present site
where new structures befitting the hopes and aspirations for the school were
erected. The present site is
called the Kwabotwe Hill.
Cape Coast is an important tourist centre with a castle,
forts and schools.
