This is
Mfantsipim, the school whose history spells the very history of Ghana,
especially in the area of the development of Secondary Education and the
decolonization of Ghana.
The
history of Mfantsipim cannot be told in one rotation of the earth.
In brief, pressures from the indigenes, challenges from the Basel Mission and
efforts by the local Methodist Missionaries, Caused the Wesleyan Missionary
Society, London Committee, to establish this high institution.
In 1876, 3rd April, the vision and the mission were fulfilled but not without disappointments,
tears and great sacrifices through to 1910.
We of
today, have a greater responsibility to think and look ahead. For we share with
the founding fathers, the good aims and aspirations Mfantsipim Stands for.
